The light of the night

I wake up,
with this glistening light in the sky
what was it?
Well a 4 year old like me does not know
I watch by my bed for a moment
There it is again
Oh Dear…
Momma the sky is on Fire
I scream.
She just laughs
For it is only lightning
Haha ONLY Lightning
For a child such as my self that is a lie
Lightning is the scariest thing in the world
Cept for doctors and Dentists of course.

My mother said in a hushed soothing voice
There is nothing to fear
For I am right here beside you.
You are safe within my arms my darling
